UPDATE: Not too bad really, and I think it’s my cellphone to blame for part of it.
I’d never really considered it, but apparently gas stations are getting screwed just as badly as we are on higher priced oil. Kinda makes you suspicious that big oil’s trying to establish dominance over the entire vertical market, which is kind of a bad idea since they’re already treading on thin ice. People will eventually switch to alternate fuel sources, if they keep getting squeezed they eventually snap.
I’m really divided on this. On one hand, there’s the the “The web is truly becoming it’s own world” on the other hand…W…T…F…
World of Warcraft VISA (Via - MAKE)
So I’m in the wrong business. QVC hosts make up to $500,000 a year according to an article from the NYT. It’s a quick interesting little read about the TV shopping industry. I also learned that QVC stands for Quality, Value, Convenience…which I somehow never knew.
The Washington Post asked Joshua Bell to play in the DC subway as a test of what people would do. In a bitter sort of commentary on the state of life in America, they did nothing. He got completely ignored by the passers-by. This article is just heartbreaking, especially to someone who loves music.

Also, I want to do something this awesome at some point in my life.
I saw this via a link on Reddit and had to share. It’s probably the most wholly applicable theory on humanity I’ve ever heard.
This is literally the reason society doesn’t work quite right. The people who exist outside that core group of a few dozen people are not people to us. They’re sort of one-dimensional bit characters.
So yeah, we have a kitty now, which is adorable. I’d have preferred a dog, but of course they’re not the most self-maintaining. After doing some searching around the intertubes, I’m pretty sure that’s because they don’t have owners that are bat-shit crazy. No, I’m serious, cat owners are nuts. After reading various reviews on Amazon and looking at the various products for kitty hygiene, I’ve settled on two. The Litter-Robot and the Cat Genie.
The Litter-Robot has one obvious advantage as I see it, in that it’s a FREAKING ROBOT…and it looks like a fancy sci-fi contraption that could potentially be a doomsday device (be sure to watch the How It Works video)
The Cat Genie wins though for having reusable litter, a wash-dry cycle, and using indoor plumbing. Not having to empty a litter box ever again gets serious points from me…’cause poo is scary.
There’s also cat fountains of course and more importantly Aqua Garden (scroll down a bit) so your cat can get it’s daily allotment of cat grass. I couldn’t find a cat fountain that connects to a mains line which seems like the sensible thing to do (never forget to water your cat again!)…though most people are scared of plumbing.
So really I guess cats are normal and their owners make them weird.
