Well I was waiting for him to do something and here it is. The Iraq War De-escalation Act. Can’t say I agree with it, but I don’t disagree with it either. There really isn’t a good answer to Iraq at this point, but we need to try something new.

Alberto Gonzalez proved today that the administrations prime tactic in their War on Freedom Terror is playing stupid. Bush has had it nailed for years but now it’s cool for everyone to jump on the bandwagon! There’s only one possible response to this and one Reddit commenter put it perfectly.
Oh yeah, we also want to violate as many human rights as possible, because nothing says, “Don’t kill us” like a stay at the fabulous Gitmo Resort and Spa. Yeah, thats guaranteed not to generate more terrorism. I’m not sure but a minimum wage increase (bad) and reduced oil subsidies (good) don’t really make me any more comfortable that these kind of atrocities are going on in our (U.S.) name.

Barack Obama’s set up a fancy Web 2.0-ish site for his Presidential Exploratory Committee. He gets my vote just for supporting fancy webpages that don’t suck. Maybe he can teach those assholes in Washington something after all. Look embeddable video!

The Prometheus Institute has a good post about how a welfare state could be run more effectively than the current US system (to be fair money-airplanes out of office buildings would be more effective). Even though I’m against government welfare, they make some good points. Now how do we get these types of intelligent thoughts to our congress-people?

Apparently we want to go to war with Iran now too! Good idea Bush, attack the Consulate of a sovereign nation. I’m sure they’ll be very understanding. Let’s go for France and Germany while we’re at it. How about the UN? They’re not with us so they must be against us, right? Won’t he be surprised when he realizes God isn’t on his side and he doesn’t have the divine authority to kill all the infidels. This sounds like a better idea every day, along with this.

Um…apparently Bill O’Reilly and Stephen Colbert are going on each other’s shows…which could either be the most amazing thing ever or a complete disaster that destroys the universe. January 18th, be there or miss one of the signs of the apocalypse!

Jim Webb responded to Bush in a way Bush isn’t used to…with a spine. Bush asked Webb about his son (who’s fighting in Iraq) and got crushed. Read the full quotes here

Well the Democrats have officially said it, they’re here and they’re ready to take your money. At least they’re supposedly going to be efficient about it…
By the time they clean up Congress there won’t be anyone left, raising minimum wage has numerous ill effects on the economy, socialized health-care is inherently flawed (imagine your health-care being as well run as the rest of government projects).
Just another “Contract with America” that will never get fulfilled.

Looks like the Democrats took pretty much every seat they could, hopefully they’ll use them for some good instead of just lollygaggin’ along as they’re so apt to. Apparently everyone’s against gay marriage. All the states that had it on the ballot voted no, which by itself isn’t so bad, but the Domestic Partnerships got smacked down too. Lots of minimum wage raising. And hey! Nevada almost legalized marijuana. Nice try Nevada, you crazy bastards. Just stick with alcohol, gambling, and prostitution. The Libertarians took pretty decent numbers in some of the House races, but not nearly enough sadly. I don’t think I’ll ever understand people who just throw away their vote on Republicans and Democrats, they’re never going to win (when it comes to making good policy decisions).
Oh yeah, and of course the Republicans are already whining (*wink*)
