CSS and Other annoyances

Look! I got multiple columns! and CSS is a pain in the ass.  Especially when you refuse to read books!  It’s probably hideous code since I’m just figuring it out by going, “Oh! What’s this setting do? *refresh*…oh”, but I perservered and now I’ve got the layout I want.

Now to just learn to write useful content…

Capital One sucks

I always figured there was something fishy about why they’ll give cards to practically anyone (no offense to anyone in particular), looks like it’s time to check the old credit report… Though honestly if it’s all you can get it’s probably worth the ding to the score to at least establish some form of credit.

Capital One = Worse Credit Score

Blogging

Copyblogger’s an excellent site if you’re trying to learn to write better, understand people better, or just learn marketing tactics. Here’s some of the more interesting articles I saw.

Sleeping in airports

I really have trouble believing this site exists…then I remember, the internet has a place for absolutely everything…

Sleepinginairports.net

Fartiste!

Damn Interesting actually lives up to it’s name, there’s all kinds of neat articles like this one.

I’d be inclined to agree with this guy, basically Paris Hilton’s popularity is propped up on the corporations that use her for marketing.

Howie Mandel’s alot more level-headed than he looks.

I got lost on these for quite awhile today, some excellent advice there.

Stupid Parents and the news for today

It’s their kids, but do these women strike you as idiots?  (admittedly the school menu seems somewhat sparse)

This is why we have people who don’t think Global Warming exists.

Perry Bible Fellowship is awesome and totally messed up, I’d seen some before but never bothered to actually check out the site.

Good article, makes some great points

Is it really Talk Like A Pirate Day again already?  Seems like it just happened a while back…

It amazes me that someone took the time and effort to do this, needs to be a poster.

Fun game, some of the stages seem broken though

I wish this was a joke but it doesn’t seem to be.  HP has gone crazy

That’s all I’ve got for now, maybe some more later unless I do some of the work I need to actually do.

Fun with Fire and other misc.

Its seems like a really bad idea…and by bad I mean fun.

I don’t think it’s actually floating, but it sure looks cool. Also I want to live in an ultra-modern apartment.

This is bizarre, and I can’t decide what my opinion is on it…on one hand, it’s their money and they like the rotary phone…on the other can’t you still buy a rotary phone certainly for less than 29.10 a month.

This wikipedia article is fascinating for the way it talks so seriously about everything…though I guess that’s kind of true about everything on wikipedia…

Is it just me or is MSNBC the only network that does any kind of reporting on how bad our government really is. I mean they’re not fool-proof, but I always seem to see a lot more critical articles there than say CNN or Foxnews (Fox for obvious reasons)

Good article on Reddit, surprised by the direction the discussion went. I tend to be somewhat supportive of vigilantism, but by the same token it’s a dangerous thing to allow. See examples homosexuality or abortion. The “right” answer seems completely obvious to both sides and they can’t even conceive of the other point of view being correct. In this case though the biggest fault lies with the local animal control/humane department, had they responded in a reasonable period of time (like the same day, they can’t be that busy) it wouldn’t have been neccessary for this woman to take the law into her own hands and thus breaking it.

Jon Stewart is a comedic and all other types of genius.

Look! Someone speaking out against the president! Kill the unpatriotic bastard!!!
It’s not exactly as strongly worded as I’d like, but then neither Powell (he or his son, FCC chair) ever had the balls to say anything particularly worth hearing or paying attention to.

Call me crazy, but this poster seems a bit, I don’t know, bitter?! She’s right mostly, though I disagree on a few of the finer points for instance. Maybe his wife’s really a frigid cunt, doesn’t make him right, he’s still a prick. I’m just saying she might be a causitive factor to his cheating. He’ll be disappointed in the cheap sex anyway, he needs to find someone who he’s actually in love with, then fuck her brains out, that tends to work best (IMO, YMMV).

Privacy is dead, long live “privacy”. I pity anyone that thinks either the democrats (who haven’t said what’s on their mind, if they have any left, in YEARS) or the FoxNews brainwashed masses are going to do anything about this.
